RMS Titanic [Trumpeter with KA Models Shapeways 1/200°] de Winnie

Hello/Bonjour !

Thanks for allowing me on your great forum, and I apologize for not being able to communicate to you in French, unfortunately my school French is lost...

Anyway, I started my kit of the RMS Titanic, with some prepping of the hull, and drilling of portholes. I've used drilling jigs (to get the holes dead center) from niglesmodellingbench, they are designed to 4 different size porthole, and the smallest drill bit (1MM) will center itself. I plan to use fiberoptic rod in the portholes, and some light diffusing paper behind windows to distribute the light evenly. 

I drilled out the port side, but was missing some drill bits so decided to order some from Amazon



Hard to see from a distance, but there are a few hundred holes there!


Drill bits, from Amazon, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3mm. It cost $17 Canadian for 50, so I think I got a good deal!

Whilst I await the fiber optic rod for the portholes, I decided to start some minim-models within the model. I decided to clean up the deck detail to accept wooden decks, and I also cleaned up the deck houses, and started the first ones with details.

KA Windows, they fit in very very well!



On the little house there are many of these windows... Many. They are attached with 3 points to the brass sheet, so very careful clipping and sanding is required, but it is ok work, just patience is required!


So there we are, a couple hours into the build. It's going to take a lot of work, but this is something I'm really looking forward to completing!

Tank you all for your nice comments! @Olivier1961, I have tried to make my space better for 10 years, every year I add something new!

Ok, so I decided to cut some windows, the actual windows have frames made of Photo Etched metal, so I thought I'd cut the backing in acetate. at first I was going to just glue it in behind, but decided it looked funny. So I took a PE sheet with me to work, and measured the windows and made a cut file and now there are windows in acetate that fit in the window holes! Looks better I think!

J'ai donc décidé de découper quelques fenêtres, les fenêtres actuelles ont des cadres en métal Photo Etched, alors j'ai pensé que je couperais le support en acétate. Au début, j'allais juste le coller derrière, mais j'ai décidé que ça faisait bizarre. J'ai donc pris une feuille de PE avec moi pour travailler, j'ai mesuré les fenêtres et j'ai fait un fichier de découpe et maintenant il y a des fenêtres en acétate qui s'adaptent aux trous des fenêtres ! C'est plus joli, je trouve !

Magnifique, le coup des vitres, je n'ai pas tout compris pour leur fabrication, mais le rendu est excellent.

C'est étonnant comme on a tous des ordres de montage vraiment très différents.
Je suis curieux de voir ta méthode pour peindre par  exemple les échelles déjà collées et qui sont d'une autre couleur, parce qu'effectivement coller les pièces déjà peintes, ce n'est pas toujours nickel.
